Dear David
hi, I don’t think I have been so cold where I startedto bleed either. U remember nizam right? 5 of us went hiking today inthe northern range until we met a tower which we climbed and then ended up somewhere in the sky, higherthan all the surrounding mountains.

From up there everything looks so insignificant. We could seesan Fernando, port of Spain, tunapuna, chaguanas Trinidad is really small girl, and so are ourmountains. But the air up there is good. N when it started to drizzle the air was cool and fresh

Dear David

Hi, I woke up extra early this morning and I knowthat’s going to have an effect on me for the rest ofthe day. Fortunately I do not have a lot to do today. Last night was cold man, I had to cover up real tight. Lol eventually I thought to turn the ac off but it was almost morning then so I just disregarded that idea and came outside.
I have roti, cabbage and potatoes. Do you eat cabbages? Idon’t really find it has much of a taste. Someone iscoming today to make some black cakes so we have a lotof dried fruits and brandy in the cupboard. I am listening to the history of the mistletoe on the radio. The host is saying that this plant that stays green during winter was meant to promote soil fertility and it was believed that a girl who was never kissed under a mistletoe will be barren for therest of her life. Hahaha… hey whats ur favourite Christmas carol? I have a few christams CD’s. some of them are local…

some of my letters wrtitten by me

Dear Susan
tomorrow afternoon until monday I have some work to doin catering, with my aunt, I help her most weekendsand she pays me good. I also stay there for two or 3days each week, because that makes things easier. crabbacks is what ppl are ordering the most I watched the news tonight and there was so much floodin this village called caparo, those ppl ALWAYS getflood, they r so stupd they should just move. On thetelevison U were actually seeing where the caparo pplthrow tons of garbage in the drains and rivers, whichis the most stupid thing to do. I guess U cant blamesoembody for being stupid,as that would turn out to beabuse wooo its sooo cold tonight, feels about 22 degreescelcius, thats cold for trinidad, I am sure ur houseis warmer than that. would be nice to be in a warmplace right now. Radhika gave me this thick shawl, Ithink made of wool. I am so going to put it on now...

it wasnt the bed or the lack of cocoa that was giving me trouble to sleep. it turns out to be the pillow. sometimes I dont use one n I sleep ok, but rescently the one Ive been useing was flat nsoft, so I made one. the one I made is big, fat, n hard, not rock hard, jus not soft, n I can boast for myself, that I had the best sleep ever last night. Dear Susan
Today I went to school and did registration for thissemester; the damn process took all fricken day. Itwas so exhausting! Fortunately this year thegovernment has decided to sponsor the complete tuitionfor all tertiary level Trinidad and Tobago nationals.
They were already giving me a scholarship for half theamount, now they paying the whole dam thing, which isexcellent. This is such a break for so many people. One of my close friends works in a grocery and hecould’ve never done as many credits as he would likedto at a time until now, n I feel so happy for him andother people in similar or worse off situations whoREAlly want to work hard in academics.
Do U know that Harry Belafonte song “JamaicanFarewell”? I was trying to play it on my flute andfinally figured out all the notes to it. Dinner was KFC. Tasted extra good, probably since Ididn’t have it for a long while haha Last night I watched piece of "the good the bad andthe ugly".
I watched from the part where the cowboysblow up the bridge, to the end. I like that movie,it’s long though. I especially like the backgroundmusic. So tomorrow I am going to sleep until 9 o’clock lol. Then my friend is supposed to pass for a few minutes. After he goes I will decide if to go back to sleep orjus be lazy some other way. Then in the afternoon at 3I have my first class for this year. And that’s the exact point where I shall stop being solazy for the rest of the year. Better enjoy the lastfew hours of vacation while it lasts right?

trini gay culture

If there was one thing about my beloved country that I would like to change would be the way homosexuality is viewed. it is still seen and portrayed as taboo. however, from my own personal

experience I can tell that the gay community is reasonably large and fast growing. There is a fear in trini that being gay will have negative consequences such as violence, disownment from

family members, loss of job since it is seen as unacceptable, and even being expelled from certain denominational school and or colleges, particularly christian based institutions, where this

behaviour is considered t0 be ungodly and means for condemnation. One example of an institution where homosexuality is not acceptable is the University of the Southern Caribbean, formerly Caribbean Union College.

The intolerance is even seen in some class lectures where particular members of staff refuse to allow students to even write a thesis on this real adolescent issue, suggesting that this is a topic that has no morals and values.
This is funny because the number of gay and bi students at the institution is surprising.

It is MIND BOGGLING the homosexuality is still Illegal in the land of Trinidad and Tobago. I wonder what is the sentence/charge for having a thought? Does it matter whether I think about a man or a woman in a sexual way? apparently it does.

I wish that trini gays could have peaceful prides and other fetes without having to be so secretive, keeping everything low profile out of fear. The gay clubs in trini are so secluded that its uncomfortable to be there. why can not a man hold a man's hand in public and not be ashamed or afraid of the immature snickers and sneers.

why do we have to mind other people's business more than we mind our own?

The one thing I love about my girlfriend is that she is a strong black woman who really does not care about the backward and uninformed views of others and proudly holds my hand and makes it known that she is proud to have me by her side.

letters

Some people write poetry. I Love poetry, but I am not a poet except when Im either in love or heart broken. I love to write letters. writting letters is a great form of expression for me. its like having a journal, only you do not post or

email your journal entires to a friend or family member at the end of the day. you keep these thoughts private and locked away, sometimes literally locked with a key. when i post my letters

I send them only to the people that I am close to such as my girlfriend, or my dear cousin who lives in the UK. I feel happy to share the events of my day or week with them, to express my likes and dislikes, the new food i've tasted or the latest film I've watched, whether it was something cheesy, or an episode that really touched me on the inside.

I love letters. I love writting them just as much as I love receiving them. the excitment of opening a package, even if just an envelope, has that feeling like on christmas morning, wondering who its from and what's the content inside.

And when i read letters its a special joy for me, a certain type of relaxation, or meditation rather. i love to be taken back into an experience and just imagine the good things and the bad things the sender has described to me. Be it the weather in London, or the number of jelly fish swarming the Mayaro coastline.
